F-Prot Antivirus For Dos
Description: The free F-PROT antivirus software from Frisk detects standard DOS/Windows viruses, Word and Excel macro viruses and Trojan Horses for a total coverage against over 63,700 threats. This level of coverage is comparable to the (not-free & resource hungry) Symantec Norton AntiVirus software.

F-PROT itself is a DOS-based scanner which is designed to be run manually (it does NOT load and run constantly in the background such as Norton and other Windows-based scanners do, which for some users is a plus) however more advanced users of DOS command line programs can load F-PROT via batch files either at startup or at preset intervals.

For those users more comfortable with more conventional Windows software Frisk now offers a separate Windows GUI-based antivirus package, FP-WIN. Unlike F-PROT Frisk's FP-WIN software is not available totally free of charge for non-commercial home users, however a free TRIAL version is available.
